If you think that because you now own a FOUR STROKE ATV the Maintenance is easy or cheaper then the days of your 2-stroke you had better be aware of the TRUTH. Today's 4-stroke motors produce much more power then their predecessor's of just a few years ago. Piston Life averages on a typical 450R will be approximately 100 to 150 hours of use. The days of the old XR 650 getting 500 plus hours are long gone. Engine Thermal Levels are in the extreme ranges Today couple this with the Brutal conditions of Riding in our Southwest Desert's & Sand Dunes.... well you all know where this is going. Another Fact for you is that Oil Break Down and the Failure to use the Correct Types Lead to more Engine Break Downs then any other reason.
